Mugena is part of the Ticino Alto Malcantone municipality in the Breno district, in the Lugano district in upper Malcantone .

geography

The village is 818 m above sea level. M. in the upper Val Magliasina and six kilometers southwest of the Taverne station on the Bellinzona - Lugano - Chiasso line of the Swiss Federal Railways .

Community merger

Mugena merged on March 13, 2005 with the former municipalities of Breno , Fescoggia , Arosio and Vezio to form the new municipality of Alto Malcantone.

history

The village was first mentioned in 1214 under the then name Megiadina . The Roman road from Ponte Tresa to Monte Ceneri through the municipality has been handed down.
