Franz Josef Schumann

Franz Josef Schumann (born July 4, 1948 in St. Wendel ) is a German local politician and member of the CDU .

education

After attending the state advanced high school in Ottweiler , Schumann studied law at the Saarland University .

Professional career

In 1975 Schumann began his career as a government assessor in the St. Wendel district . From 1982 to 1987 he was the state representative of the then District Administrator Waldemar Marner . Schumann then worked as district administrative director until 1992.

politics

Schumann has been a member of the CDU since 1972.

On November 11, 1991 he was elected by the district council with 14:13 votes for 10 years as district administrator in the district of St. Wendel. In the direct election in 2001 he was confirmed in office by the citizens with a large majority of 70.6%. In 2007 Schumann no longer stood for election, but switched to the Saar Savings Banks Association in Saarbrücken on January 1, 2008 as association president. Udo Recktenwald was elected as his successor as district administrator.

Schumann is particularly involved in the sporting and social sectors on a voluntary basis. Among other things, he was DRK district chairman and has been president of the Saarland Football Association since 2008.
