Udo Recktenwald
Udo Recktenwald (* 24. August 1962 in Marpingen ) is a German politician of the CDU . Since 1 January 2008 he has been district administrator of the district of St. Wendel .
education
From 1972 to 1981 Recktenwald attended the Arnold-Janssen-Gymnasium in the district town of St. Wendel . He graduated from high school and studied German and social studies for teaching at the grammar school at Saarland University . Recktenwald completed this course in 1987 with the first state examination.
Professional career
From 1987 to 1989 he worked as a freelance employee for the Saarbrücker Zeitung . From 1989 to 1999 Recktenwald worked as a part-time editor-in-chief of the CityJournal magazine in St. Wendel. At the same time he was press officer in the cultural office of the district town of St. Wendel from 1989 to 1992 and from 1993 to 1999 press spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group in the Saarland state parliament . From 1999 to 2008 he was a full-time government spokesman for the Saarland.
politics
In 1984 Recktenwald joined the Junge Union and the CDU. A year later he was elected to the boards of both associations. Until 1997 he was a member of the board of the CDU Marpingen, then moved to St. Wendel. Since 1991 he has been a member of the district board of the CDU St. Wendel, since 1998 on the board of the CDU local association St. Wendel. He finally took over the chairmanship of the CDU local association St. Wendel in 2001. In 1994 he became a member of the district council of St. Wendel, in 2004 he became deputy chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group.
In the direct election of the district administrator in the St. Wendel district on July 1, 2007, he prevailed in the first ballot with 52.4% of the votes cast against Magnus Jung ( SPD ) and Kristin Günther ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). Recktenwald succeeded Franz Josef Schumann (CDU) on January 1, 2008 . On March 15, 2015, Recktenwald was re-elected as district administrator with 72.9% of the votes cast. His second term began on January 1, 2016. Against the SPD candidate was Magnus Jung.
Since October 1, 2015, he has been deputy chairman of the Saarland district assembly . As of April 1, 2017, he has been chairman of the Saarland district assembly.
Further mandates
Recktenwald has been the district chairman of the DRK district association St. Wendel since January 1, 2008 and since 2016 the head of the association for rescue service and fire brigade alarms (ZRF) in Saarland. Since November 24, 2012, he has been Vice President of the Saarland Regional Association of the German Red Cross, and since October 2015 Chairman of the Economic and Transport Committee of the German District Association (DLT).
Recktenwald has been the deputy chairman of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park since May 11, 2016, and chairman of the Caritas Council of the Caritas Association Schaumberg-Blies eV since June 24, 2015.
