Franz Josef Weisweiler

Franz Josef Weisweiler (born July 7, 1928 in Gladbeck , † July 30, 1985 in Düsseldorf ) was a German manager and chairman of the board of the Mannesmann AG.

Life

Franz Josef Weisweiler was born in Gladbeck in 1928 as the son of a doctor and graduated from high school in 1949. He studied metallurgy and mining at the Montanistische Hochschule Leoben and RWTH Aachen University and worked as a miner for two years. a. in the Mannesmann Hüttenwerk (today Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann ) in Duisburg-Hüttenheim .

He continued his career at Mannesmann-Hüttenwerke, initially as an assistant and from 1964 as the technical manager of the steelworks. In 1967 he became the technical director of the Mannesmann Hüttenwerke group. In 1972 he joined the board of the Mannesmann AG. In 1983, Weisweiler succeeded Egon Overbeck as CEO . From 1973 to 1982 Weisweiler was chairman of the Iron and Steel Industry Employers' Association

On July 30, 1985, he died of kidney cancer.
