Franz Joseph Reichsgraf Czernin von Chudenitz and Neuhaus (Czech František Josef Černín z Chudenic ) (born March 6, 1697 in Vienna ; † March 4, 1733 ibid) was a Bohemian nobleman, kk chamberlain, inheritance teller and court judge in Prague.

Life

He came from the Bohemian noble family of the Czernin von Chudenitz . His parents were the diplomat Hermann Jakob Czernin von Chudenitz (* July 25, 1659; † August 8, 1710) and his wife Maria Josepha Slavata von Chlum and Koschumberg (* February 2, 1667; † October 11, 1708). He was baptized in the Schottenkirche in Vienna under the name Franciscus de Paulus Josephus Leopoldus Wenzeslaus Antonius de Padua Cajetanus Fridericus Adeodatus Joannes Lucas Marcus Matthaeus . His godparents were the Bohemian Chancellor Franz Ulrich Kinsky , Maria Elisabeth von Eggenberg, wife of the Court Master Ferdinand Joseph von Dietrichstein , and Johann Leopold Donat von Trautson.

He was a student at the Piarist High School in Kosmanos. After the death of his father in 1710 his aunt Maria Margaretha and her husband Franz Joseph von Wallenstein took over the guardianship. Between 1715 and 1717 he undertook a trip through Europe, during which he visited Strasbourg, Paris, Brussels and Utrecht and learned the French language. In Belgium he met his future wife, daughter of the Imperial Field Marshal Jean Philippe Eugène de Merode-Westerloo . The wedding took place in Brussels in 1717.

In 1716 he received from Emperor Karl VI. the office of a supreme inheritor and the permission that the respective head of the family and Marjoratsherr may call himself "governor of the house of Neuhaus and Chudenitz". From 1721 he was a judge at the Supreme Court and also imperial chamberlain and privy councilor. In the years 1721 and 1728 to 1730 he was appointed royal parliamentary commissioner and represented the emperor in the Bohemian state parliament. He died in 1733 at the age of 36 and was buried in the chapel of St. Sigismund in St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. His heart was buried separately in Chudenitz. His widow was married to the half-brother of her late husband Franz Anton Czernin.

On May 12, 1717, he married 14-year-old Isabella Johanna Maria Catharina de Merode-Westerloo (* October 12, 1703; † April 1, 1780), Lady of the Star Cross, daughter of Johannes Philipp Eugen, Imperial Count of Merode, Margrave from Westerlo. The marriage had five children:
