Hermann Jakob Gottlieb Imperial Count Czernin von Chudenitz (Czech Heřman Jakub Černín z Chudenic) (born July 25, 1659 in Vienna , † August 8, 1710 in Prague ) was a Bohemian nobleman and Austrian diplomat.

Life

He came from the Bohemian noble family of the Czernin von Chudenitz . His parents were the diplomat Humprecht Johann Reichsgraf Czernin von Chudenitz (* February 14, 1628 - March 3, 1682) and the maid of honor Maria Diana Hippoliti da Gazoldo, born in Mantua (* September 2, 1636 - September 22, 1687). From his father he inherited the lords of Chudenitz , Neuhaus, Petersburg, Schönhof, Platz, Kosmanos , Winarz, Rabenstein, Gießhübel and Neudek . From February to May 1695 he acted on behalf of Emperor Leopold I as ambassador extraordinary in Warsaw. There he tried to win King Johann Sobieski and his advisors for an alliance in the fight against the Turks. From 1700 to 1704 he held the office of the highest provincial judge. After the national bankruptcy of 1703 he lent the state treasury 1,200,000 florins. From 1704 until his death he held the office of the supreme governor of Bohemia and the governor of Prague. He died in 1710 in Palais Czernin in Prague and was buried in St. Vitus Cathedral in the chapel of St. Sigismund. His heart was buried separately in Kosmanos.

On January 12, 1687 he married Maria Josepha Slavata von Chlum and Koschumberg (* February 2, 1667 - August 10, 1708) in his first marriage and on October 6, 1709 in his second marriage to Antonia Josepha Countess von Kuenburg (* 11 June 1685 - March 4, 1755). His children were:
