Franz Joseph Salffekt

Franz Joseph Sal Wirk (born February 3, 1762 in Mollenberg , Hergensweiler parish; † December 11, 1820 in Milan , in Italy Giuseppe Salvirch ) was an engraver .

His mother Maria Magdalena b. Wocher comes from Langenargen on Lake Constance.

From 1779 he worked as an engraver and medalist at the Mint in Milan, where he succeeded the chief engraver Gerolamo Vassallo on July 4, 1808 .

He cut the dies of numerous coins that emanated from the Milan mint under French and Austrian rule and made numerous commemorative medals. Salffekt confessed to Langenargen as his home town all his life.
