Franz Karl Immanuel (Emanuel) Junot (born April 24, 1785 in Ballenstedt ; † January 4, 1846 in Rudolstadt ) was the prince-black castle inspector and son-in-law of the poet Friedrich Schiller .

Life

Junot was commissioned in 1821 by Prince Friedrich Günther von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt to manage his iron and steel works in Katzhütte . He modernized the plant and introduced technical innovations. Iron casting, machine parts, wrought iron railings, locksmith goods and disc iron were manufactured. Artistic luxury items such as plaques with images of princes and famous personalities, busts, statues and grave crosses were known and sought-after. Under his leadership, the plant enjoyed a significant upswing. Junot, appointed Princely Bergrat in 1835, was one of the most important mountain and smelting people of his time. Until his death he supervised the mining and metallurgy of the principality. On November 2, 1839, Prince Friedrich Günther appointed him a member of the Princely Chamber College and the Princely Road, Water and Bank Construction Commission. Linked to this was the move from Katzhütte to Rudolstadt.
