Franz Krey

Franz Krey (born on January 4, 1904 in Essen ; died on January 24, 1997 there ) was a German working-class writer.

Life

Franz Krey was born into a family of steel smelters. He attended an elementary school in Essen and then began an apprenticeship in a Krupp drawing office . He did not finish his apprenticeship because the management fired him. He carried out various activities, including a. Tugs underground, hostel maintenance, auxiliary fitters and hammer in a coal mine. Because of frequent unemployment he went on a hike. Due to lack of money, he broke off an apprenticeship at a mechanical engineering school. In 1925 he became a member of the KPD .

He published sketches, short stories, poems and narratives in Ruhrecho. Organ of the KPD Ruhr area and in the Red Flag . He described himself as "a poet out of unemployment". For a time he headed the "Westphalian Echo". He was a member of the Association of Proletarian Revolutionary Writers in Germany .

His only published novel Maria and the Paragraph. A novel to § 218 described the gray harbor impact of § 218 to destitute workers women quacks were driven into his hands. Friedrich Wolf wrote about the value of the novel that it shows a world of experience "which no mere writer can have".

In 1934, Krey was arrested for illegal resistance work as part of a large wave of arrests.

Franz Krey died in Essen on January 24, 1997.
