Franz Kroyer

Franz Kroyer (born November 23, 1901 in Zemendorf ; † January 28, 1981 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. Kroyer was married, a member of the Federal Council , President of the Federal Council and a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

education and profession

Kroyer was born the son of farmer Josef Kroyer and attended elementary school in Zemendorf. After the community school he graduated from the agricultural school in Hubertendorf and was subsequently active as a farmer. In 1941 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht , where he was taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he did not return until 1946.

In addition to his work as a farmer, Kroyer was active in various cooperatives and associations. He was a board member of the Austrian Dairy and Cheese Association, the Burgenland Fleckviehzuchtverband, the Burgenland Beet Farmers Association and the Burgenland Viticulture Association. In 1953 he was given the professional title of Economics Council.

Politics and functions

Kroyer was initially involved in the Reich Association of Catholic-German Youth and was a co-founder in 1922 and, from 1924, Gauobmann of this movement in the Wulkatal . He then acted as regional association chairman in Burgenland between 1926 and 1928. Kroyer was also active in the Christian Social Party and was a youth representative on the Burgenland state leadership between 1930 and 1934. After the end of the Second World War , Kroyer became involved in the Austrian People's Party and was mayor of Zemendorf from 1947 to 1954. In addition, from 1947 he was active as a councilor in the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture , whose third president he became in 1950. Kroyer subsequently became managing director in 1951 and appointed president in 1955, and from 1958 to 1964 he was the first freely elected president of the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture. In addition, from 1955 to 1964 he was chairman of the Burgenland Farmers' Union. Kroyer represented the ÖVP between June 29, 1956 and December 7, 1964 and again from December 20, 1962 to May 26, 1964 in the Federal Council. He was also President of the Federal Council from January 1, 1960 to June 30, 1960, and from December 19, 1959 to May 5, 1960 a member of the Burgenland Landtag.
