Franz Loebel , also Franz Löbel , (* 1768 in Königswalde , Bohemia; † 1827 ) was a German opera singer ( soprano , later bass ) and actor.

Life

Loebel already stood out as a boy with his beautiful voice and came as a soprano to the Electoral Saxon Chapel in Dresden at the age of seven , where he was still at the age of 18 both in the court theater and in concerts "in the absence of castrati " for such a thing Games was occupied.

The Dresden chamber singer and music teacher Ludwig Kornelius took his further training into his hands. With the completion of his change of voice Loebel developed into a bass singer, in which vocal range he was again accepted into the Dresden court orchestra in 1791. Loebel was still on the Saxon court stage as an actor until the first quarter of the 19th century, since in 1816 he took part in the premiere of the opera Il barbiere di Siviglia by the Dresden court music director and composer Francesco Morlacchi in the Morettisches Opera House .

Loebel then gave up his work in Dresden for a few years, only to resume it from 1821 until his death.
