Franz Mück (boxing trainer)

Franz Mück (* 1908 / 1909 ) was a German Boxer trainer .

Life

Mück was a trainer at the Hamburg club SV Polizei and led several boxers to win Hamburg and North German championship titles. Under his direction and in collaboration with Hanne Wichmann, boxers also won German championships, including Karl Schmidt, Addi Baumgarten, Ferry Räschke and Otto and Heinz Götzke. Mück also looked after Herbert Nürnberg and Friedel Vogt.

He was the trainer of Hein ten Hoff and led him together with Ernst Prikker to win the European title in September 1951, when ten Hoff defeated Jack Gardner on the Berlin Waldbühne in front of 27,000 spectators . He also looked after Willi Hoepner , who became European champion in 1958. Even Hans-Werner "flounder" Wohlers was one of his proteges, the German in December 1961, Mueck line champion. With Albert Westphal , Helmut Mistol and Heinrich Meinhardt he  trained other German champions.

Mück looked after Jürgen Blin , was his coach when he started his career as a professional boxer in 1964 and also when he fought for the European championship title in June 1970 and May 1971, but lost each time. After Blins fight against Muhammad Ali  in December 1971, he and Mück ended their collaboration.

According to the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper , Mück has "secured a permanent place in German boxing history" as a trainer. His record in the professional camp was fantastic, wrote the paper in December 1971.
