Franz Mederle

Franz Mederle (born September 9, 1893 in Rottweil ; † July 30, 1955 there) was a German lawyer and local politician .

Life

The son of the Rottweiler Kameralamtsvorstandes studied in Tübingen law . Like his father, he became a member of the Landsmannschaft Scotland student union . He graduated with the doctorate to Dr. iur. from. In 1924 Mederle established himself as a lawyer in Rottweil. He was close to the center and was an opponent of National Socialism . As a "proven anti-Nazi" he was appointed mayor of Rottweil in May 1945 . He held this office until April 1946 and at the same time reorganized the Rottweil district court as senior public prosecutor . Afterwards he resumed his work as a lawyer, where he was in close contact with his neighbor Lorenz Bock . In 1949 he brought an action for restitution on the basis of Ordinance No. 120 on behalf of William Wälder, who had sold his house as part of the boycott measures against Jewish citizens in 1935. From the mid-1930s until his death he was chairman of the supervisory board of Oscar Müller & Cie. in Schwenningen .
