Franz Nachtmann

Franz Nachtmann (born December 8, 1883 in Munich ; † 1942 there ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Franz Nachtmann was the son of a furniture manufacturer. After study trips through Germany, Austria and Italy, he started working as a freelance sculptor in Munich.

Nachtmann's work mainly includes small sculptures, including dancers expressing movement in Art Nouveau style , which were offered by various foundries such as Adalbert Brandstetter (now the Kunstgiesserei München ) and earthenware manufacturers. Around 1920 he also worked for the Reinhold Merkelbach stoneware factory in Grenzhausen . In the 1920s and 1930s he created a number of warrior and grave memorials.
