Franz Perhab

Franz Perhab (born May 18, 1953 in Leoben ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and innkeeper. From 2005 to 2015 he was a member of the Federal Council for Styria .

education and profession

Perhab attended elementary school in Leoben between 1959 and 1963 and continued his education in 1963 at the Federal High School in Leoben. In 1968 he switched to the Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium in Graz and passed the Matura in 1972 . Between 1972 and 1973 he did military service as a one-year volunteer with the Austrian Armed Forces and then studied political science at the University of Vienna and business administration at the Vienna University of Economics between 1973 and 1980 , although he did not achieve a degree.

Perhab, who is the captain of the reserve, was employed between 1978 and 1990 as a junior manager at the Bierfriedl inn in Pruggern , and has been running the business as an independent entrepreneur since 1990. Since 2005 he has also been a partner and since 2006 managing director of EW Beteiligungs-GmbH and since 2010 a limited partner of Wasserkraftwerk Grießbach KG.

politics

Perhab began his political career in local politics, where he was the local party leader of the ÖVP Pruggern between 1990 and 2000. In addition, he is active in lobbying, where he has been district group chairman of the Styrian Economic Association for the Gröbming district and district chairman of the Chamber of Commerce for the Liezen district since 1993. Furthermore, in 1997 he was elected chairman of the hotel sector of the Styrian Chamber of Commerce and has been the regional chairman of the Austrian Economic Association of the Styrian regional group since 2000. Perhab has also been the district party chairman of the ÖVP Gröbming since 2005 and has been a member of the general assembly of the Styrian regional health insurance fund since 2001. In addition, from 2005 to 2005 he was a board member of the Styrian regional health insurance fund.

On November 11, 2005, Perhab was sworn in as a member of the Federal Council sent from Styria, and in 2011 he took over the chairmanship of the Federal Council's Committee for Internal Affairs. After the state elections in Styria in 2015 and the resulting new appointment of members of the Federal Council by the Styrian state parliament, Franz Perhab left the Federal Council on June 15, 2015.

Private

Perhab is married and has four children. Between 1985 and 1991 he was chairman of the Pruggern Sports Union (soccer section). Furthermore, he is an original member of the K.Ö.HV Franco-Bavaria Vienna in the ÖCV.
