Elçin Əliyev

Elçin Əliyev (internationally also Elchin Aliyev ; born April 26, 1990 ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler . He was European champion in the Greco-Roman style bantamweight in 2010 and 2012 .

Career

Elçin Əliyev started wrestling as a teenager in 2001. He belongs to the sports club Inter Pik Baku and has been coached by Abulfat Mamadow since the beginning of his career. He prefers the Greco-Roman style. The 1.60 meter tall athlete is z. Currently mainly a wrestler, but is also enrolled as a sports student at a university.

His international career began in 2007 at the European Junior Championships in Belgrade , where he won the title in the weight class up to 50 kg body weight. At the Junior World Championship in Istanbul in 2008 he started in bantamweight and came there to victories over Gabor Molnar, Hungary and Kemal Charabadse from Georgia . In his next fight he lost to Harun Bozoglu from Turkey . Since this did not reach the final Elçin Əliyev was eliminated and only came in 8th place.

Elçin Əliyev faces very strong competitors in his own country in the senior class. The 2011 world champion Rövşən Bayramov should be mentioned in particular . Nevertheless, he was also used in international championships and even won titles. For example at the 2010 European Championships in Baku. There he defeated Wugar Ragimow from Ukraine , Anders Rønningen from Norway , Alexandar Kostadinow from Bulgaria and Nasir Mankijew from Russia and became European champion. At the 2010 World Cup in Moscow , he first won again over Vugar Ragimow, but then lost to Choi Gyu-jin from South Korea . In the consolation round he defeated Elgin Elwais from Palau , but then lost to Peter Modos from Hungary and only came in 9th place.

In 2011 he was not used in any international championships. But he was back at the European bantamweight championship in Belgrade and won the European championship for the second time with a victory in the final over Peter Modos. Whether it will be used at the 2012 Olympic Games in London will be determined by the Azerbaijani eliminations.
