Péter Módos

Péter Módos (born December 17, 1987 in Szigetvár ) is a Hungarian wrestler . He won at the Olympic Games 2012 in London , a bronze medal in Greco-Roman style in the bantamweight .

Career

Péter Módos started wrestling as a five-year-old in 1992 in Szigetvar and is still a member of the local wrestling club. He focuses on the Greco-Roman style and was or is trained by Janos Modos (grandfather), Ferenc Bacsa, György Struhacs and Ferenc Takacs. At a height of 1.70 meters, it weighs around 60 kg, but has only started in the bantam weight class, which has its weight limit of 55 kg. He is also well known in German wrestling circles, because he started for KSV 05 Aalen in the German Bundesliga and has been wrestling for KSV Köllerbach since the 2012/13 season . Between 2003 and 2007 he competed in seven international junior championships. He won five medals. The greatest successes were winning the junior championship title of Europe in 2006 and 2007. In 2006 he won in Szombathely in front of the Turkish Harun Bozoglu and in 2007 in Belgrade in front of Victor Wolfgang from Sweden . At two Junior World Championships he won a bronze medal each, namely in 2005 in Vilnius in the weight class up to 50 kg and in 2006 in Guatemala City in the same weight class.

In 2008, Péter Módos won a medal at an international championship for the first time. He won the bronze medal at this year's European Championships in Tampere . On the way there he defeated Anar Zainalow, Estonia and Joaquin Martinez Abellan, Spain , lost to Rövşən Bayramov , Azerbaijan and landed in the consolation round in the battle for this bronze medal remarkable victories over Nasir Mankijew from Russia and Jani Haapamäki , Finland . He also won other medals at the 2010 European Championships in Baku , where he won a bronze medal and at the 2012 European Championships in Belgrade , where he won the silver medal . He took a good fifth place at the 2010 World Cup in Moscow and at the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul .

The 2012 Olympic Games in London became the highlight of Péter Módos' career so far . There he won a bronze medal with a victory over Elmurat Tasmuradow, Uzbekistan , a defeat against Hamid Soryan Reihanpour , Iran and victories over Arsen Eralijew, Kyrgyzstan and Håkan Nyblom from Denmark .

Hungarian championships

Peter Modos became Hungarian bantamweight champion in 2008 and 2009 and featherweight in 2010. In 2007 he was the Hungarian runner-up in bantamweight, each in Greco-Roman style.
