Ascent to the Wiedenfelsen

The Wiedenfelsen is a granite rock formation on the western slope of the northern Black Forest . It is located below the Black Forest High Road at almost 700 m above sea level on the L  83 between Sand and Bühlertal .

The Wiedenfelsen consists of two rocks protruding approx. 30 m from the surroundings. The boulders in the Bühlertal granite show a typical block disintegration for this area, in which round rock forms arise. They are designated as a natural monument . The Wiedenfelsen is also protected as a geotope .

Immediately adjacent is the Wiedenfelsen house, a former hotel and spa house. It is part of Bühlertal-Obertal as a living space. There is also a popular car park for hikers to the Gertelbach Falls , the Bühlerhöhe , the Wiedenfelsen open-air artificial ice rink and other destinations. A short path leads to the rock itself from the parking lot, which leads to a view of the entire Bühlertal. There are several climbing routes of difficulty levels V – VII on the rocks .
