The Kapitelsberg in the Harz low mountain range is 535.7  m above sea level. NHN high elevation near Tanne in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt .

Geographical location

The Kapitelsberg is located in the Lower Harz in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . It rises about 2 km east-northeast of the village of Tanne , a district of the town of Oberharz am Brocken . Its wooded landscape drops to the west and north into the valley of the Warmen Bode , into which the Allerbach flows at the northwestern foot of the mountain , and to the east over several small streams into that of the Rappbode tributary Allerbach . The valleys directly surrounding the mountain are part of the Harzer Bachtäler nature reserve .

Opportunities for viewing and hiking

The Kapitelsberg can only be reached on forest and hiking trails. About 750 m west of the mountain peak is a lookout point (about  528  m ). There is a wooden cross and an iron direction clock on which, in addition to the four main directions, some geographical destinations in the area are entered. From there, you can see the village of Tanne in the Warmen Bode valley , the Hohnekamm , Wurmberg and Brocken as well as the Achtermannshöhe . Slightly east of vantage stands next to a picnic place a shelter ( ) with the punch location 44 in the system of Harzer Wandernadel .
