Career

Håkan Nyblom comes from a family of wrestlers. His twin brother Anders is also one of the top Danish wrestlers. Both brothers specialized in the Greco-Roman style. Håkan Nyblom belongs to the wrestling club Brydeklubb Herning , where he has been trained by Jarek Pzyara for several years. At a height of 1.60 meters he first wrestled in the flyweight, then in the bantamweight and for several years now he has been wrestling in the featherweight. In his youth he learned the trade of a carpenter. He is also well known in German wrestling circles because he competed in the Bundesliga for SV Siegfried Hallbergmoos .

Håkan Nyblom has been taking part in international championships since 1999 in the junior division but also in the senior division. His successes were limited at first. In 2001, however, he took an excellent 4th place in the flyweight world championship in Tashkent and narrowly missed a medal. At the European Senior Championships in 2002 in Seinäjoki , he took a good 6th place in bantamweight.

At the 2003 World Championships in Créteil , he reached eighth place with three victories in the bantamweight division, thus qualifying for participation in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . There he started again in the bantamweight division. He lost his first fight against Artiom Kiourengian from Greece , but won 8th place again with victories over Sheng Jiang, China and Uran Chalilow, Kyrgyzstan .

In 2008 Håkan Nyblom succeeded at the European Championships in Tampere in the featherweight division with victories over Dimitri Alenski, Belarus , Tonimir Sokol, Croatia u. Svajunas Adomaitis, Lithuania , a defeat against Jarkko Ala-Huikku , Finland and another victory over Sebastien Hidalgo , France with the bronze medal for the first time a medal at an international championship. However , this success was not enough for a start at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . Even in the following qualifying tournaments, he did not succeed in fighting for a ticket to Beijing.

Håkan Nyblom achieved the greatest success of his career at the 2009 World Cup in Herning / Denmark . In featherweight he fought his way to victories over Peter Modos , Hungary , Francisco Encarnacion, Dominican Republic a. Wugar Ragimow , Ukraine until the semi-finals, in which he lost to multiple world champion Hamid Soryan Reihanpour from Iran . In the fight for a world championship bronze medal , he then defeated Erhan Karakus from Turkey .

In 2010 Håkan Nyblom could not start because of a protracted shoulder injury.
