Saur Ismatulajewitsch Kuramagomedow
Saur Ismatulajewitsch Kuramagomedow ( Russian Заур Исматулаевич Курамагомедов ; born March 30, 1988 in Tyrnyaus , Kabardino-Balkaria ) is a Russian wrestler . He won at the Olympic Games 2012 in London , a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the featherweight .
Career
Saur Kuramagomedow comes from the Russian republic of Kabardino-Balkaria . There he started wrestling in 1999. In the meantime, the 1.70 meter tall athlete belongs to the Dynamo Rostov-on-Don sports club . He is a student and only starts in the Greco-Roman style. His trainer is Yuri Lokeev.
Kuramagomedow was very successful as a junior. He won all international championships in which he participated. These were the European Championship (Cadets) 2003 in Rostov-on-Don , the European Championship 2005 in Wrocław , the European Championship 2006 in Szombathely and the World Championship 2006 in Guatemala City .
In 2007 Saur Kuramagomedow was used for the first time at an international championship among seniors, namely at the European championship in Sofia . He started in bantamweight and became Vice European Champion with victories over Thomas Rønningen, Norway , Wenelin Wenkow , Bulgaria , Alexander Schalesny, Belarus and Wugar Ragimow , Ukraine and a loss in the final against Rövşən Bayramov from Azerbaijan .
In 2008 he was defeated in the final of the "Ivan Poddubny" tournament in Moscow and at the Russian bantamweight championship in the final fight against Nasir Mankiev , who was therefore sent to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and was also Olympic champion there.
In 2010, Saur Kuramagomedow took 3rd place in the Russian featherweight championship behind Rustam Khachbarov and Vyacheslav Jaste . He was used this year but both at the European Championships in Baku and at the World Championships in Moscow . In Baku he won over Svajunas Adomaitis, Lithuania , then lost to Konstantin Balizki from Ukraine and secured a bronze medal with victories over Matti Kettunen from Finland and Eusebiu Diaconu from Romania . In Moscow he won his first fight over Wan Feihu from China , but was defeated in the next fight against Omid Haji Noroozi from Iran , dropped out and only came in 15th.
At the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul , he won his first World Cup medal. He won the featherweight victory over Erik Weiss from Germany , this win with 2: 1 rounds at 3: 3 points and then lost again against Omid Haji Noroozi. Since this world champion , he was able to continue in the consolation round, in which he secured a bronze medal with victories over Konstantin Balizki, Sheng Jiang, China and Jung Ji-hyun , South Korea .
In 2012 Saur Kuramagomedow was again Russian champion before Ibragim Labasanow and although this year his results in international tournaments were not outstanding, the Russian Wrestling Federation kept him loyal and also used him at the Olympic Games in London . There he first won over Tarek Aziz Benaissa from Algeria , but lost in his next fight against Rewas Laschchi from Georgia . Since this reached the final, he was able to wrestle in the consolation round and still secure the Olympic bronze medal there with victories over Sayed Abdelmonem Sayed Hamed from Egypt and Həsən Əliyev from Azerbaijan .
