Ivan Nikolajewitsch Kuilakow ( Russian Иван Николаевич Куйлаков ; * February 22, 1986 ) is a Russian wrestler . In 2013 he was Vice World Champion and Vice European Champion in Greco-Roman style, both in featherweight .

Career

Ivan Kuilakow grew up in Pervomayez and started wrestling there as a teenager in 1998. In the meantime he belongs to a wrestling club in Tver in the Novosibirsk region . He is fully focused on the Greco-Roman style. Wrestling is also his profession at the moment. So far he has been and is mainly trained by Andrei Lissiza and Wladimir Butoren.

He was already successful as a junior and in 2005 and 2006 he became the Russian junior featherweight champion, the weight class in which he still competes today. His international career began in 2005, as he finished 2nd at the European Junior Championships (U 20) in Wrocław behind Atacan Yüksel from Turkey and ahead of Emil Milew , Bulgaria and Davor Štefanek , Serbia. At the European Junior Championships 2006 in Szombathely / Hungary he could not quite repeat this success, because he reached the 5th place there.

After his junior years, it took Ivan Kuilakow a few years to establish himself in the Russian senior class and in the world top of his weight class. In 2010 he won a medal for the first time at the Russian Senior Championship. He took 3rd place behind Rustam Khachbarov and Vyacheslav Jaste . He also achieved this place at the Russian championships in 2011 and 2012, in 2011 behind Saur Kuramagomedow and Vyacheslav Jaste and in 2012 behind Saur Kuramagomedow and Ibragim Labasanow. With this placement, he had no chance to be nominated for the Russian Wrestling Association for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

In 2013, Ivan Kuilakow was the first Russian featherweight champion before Ibragim Labasanow, Mingijan Semjonow and Akhmed Gadschimuradow. He had thus acquired the right to be used at the international championships this year. He justified this trust at the 2013 European Championships in Tbilisi, even if he did not win the title. In Tbilisi he defeated Istvan Levai from Slovakia, Alexander Mikalejan from Armenia, Rewas Laschchi , Georgia and Lanur Temirow, Uzbekistan, but lost in the final against Iwo Angelow from Bulgaria on points (0: 2 rounds, 0: 3 points). In July 2013 he won the Universiade in Kazan ahead of Kamran Mammadow, Azerbaijan and Almat Kebispajew , Kazakhstan. He was also in very good shape at the 2013 World Cup in Budapest. There he defeated Alexander Mikaeljan, Dimitri Zumbalijuk, Ukraine, Eslmurat Tasmuradow, Uzbekistan, Kazuma Kuramoto, Japan and Almat Kebispajew, before losing to Iwo Angelow in the final like at the European Championship. But this time it was very close, with 1: 2 rounds and 2: 3 points. So in 2013 he was Vice World and Vice European Champion.
