Rewas Laschchi ( Georgian რევაზ ლაშხი ; born May 26, 1988 in Borjomi ) is a Georgian wrestler . It was 2011 European Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in the featherweight .

Career

Rewas Laschchi from Borjomi started wrestling as a teenager. He focuses on the Greco-Roman style and is or was trained by Georgi Rasmadse, Akaki Chuchua and Begi Darchia. He started in bantamweight and has been wrestling featherweight since 2007 . At 1.72 meters, it is relatively large for this weight class.

At the beginning of his international wrestling career he finished in 2004 at the Junior European Championship (Cadets) in the weight class up to 54 kg body weight and at the Junior World Championship 2005 (Juniors) 3rd place. At the Junior World Championships (Juniors) 2006 in Guatemala City and 2007 in Beijing , he could not place in the front field. In 2006 he only came in 10th place in bantamweight and in 2007 in featherweight only in 19th place.

In 2006 he was also used at the European Senior Championships in Moscow . He came in bantamweight after a victory over Jan Hocko from the Czech Republic and a defeat against Rowschan Bajramow from Azerbaijan on the 8th place. Also at the international championships from 2007 to 2009 he was only able to occupy middle places, whereby his 7th place at the world championship 2009 in Herning / Denmark is to be emphasized, because he won there against the three very strong athletes Hanzel Meoque Lugonez from Cuba , Sebastian Hidalgo from France and Omid Haji Noroozi from Iran . But he was defeated in the consolation round against Vitali Rəhimov from Azerbaijan.

2010 Rewas Laschchi finished at the European Championships in Baku in featherweight the 7th place, where he lost after a victory over Artur Chatsaturow from Greece against Eusebiu Diaconu from Romania . At the World Cup in Moscow he lost after two wins in the third round against Ryūtarō Matsumoto from Japan and then came in the consolation round to a victory over Lenur Temirow from Ukraine . In the battle for the bronze medal he was defeated by the South Korean Jung Ji-hyun and therefore took 5th place.

At the European Championships 2011 in Dortmund he had his big breakthrough, because he defeated Sebastian Hidalgo, Edward Barsegjan from Poland , Eusebiu Diaconuu, Həsən Əliyev from Azerbaijan and in the final Ivo Angelow from Bulgaria and became the new European champion .

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 , Rewas Laschchi won over Sayed Abd El Monem Sayed Hamed, Egypt , Saur Kuramagomedow , Russia and Həsən Əliyev , Azerbaijan . He was thus in the final against Omid Haji Noroozi from Iran , against whom he was defeated. But winning the Olympic silver medal is a great success for him.
