Vitali Rhimov
Vitali Rəhimov (born August 27, 1984 in Meghri ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler .
Career
Vitali Rəhimov started wrestling in 1994. He focuses on the Greco-Roman style and belongs to the sports club Neftchi Baku . Since the beginning of his wrestling career he has been trained by Wagib Fesulajew. At a height of 1.66 meters, he started out in featherweight and has been wrestling with lightweight since 2010 . He is a PE teacher.
Vitaly Rahimov's international career began in 2001, when he became Junior European Champion (Cadet) in the weight class up to 54 kg in Izmir . At the European Junior Championships in 2002 in Subotica he came in bantamweight only on the 7th place and also at the Junior World Championships 2003 in Istanbul he was far away from the medal ranks with a 9th place.
In 2004 he was able to qualify with a 4th place in the featherweight for the Olympic Games in Athens in his first assignment with the seniors, the Olympic qualification tournament in Tashkent . At the European Championships in 2004, which took place in Haparanda before these games , he lost his first fight against Lasha Lomadze from Georgia and was then only able to achieve 11th place with a victory over Thomas Kathan from Austria . At the Olympic Games in Athens he defeated the 1996 Olympic champion Włodzimierz Zawadzki from Poland , but then lost to Jung Ji-hyun from South Korea , which meant he was eliminated and only finished in 14th place.
In 2005 Vitali Rəhimov made the final breakthrough in the international top class among senior citizens. He became European featherweight champion that year in Varna . With Mahmut Görez from Turkey , Petr Svehla from the Czech Republic , Dawit Bedinadse and Eusebiu Diaconu from Romania, he defeated four world class wrestlers. However, he had bad luck at the World Cup that same year in Budapest , because he lost there against Davor Štefanek from Serbia on points (1: 2 rounds, 7:12 points). Since Stefanek did not reach the final, Vitali Rəhimov was eliminated and only came in 22nd place.
He also had no luck at the World Championships in Guangzhou in 2006 and in Baku in 2007 . In Guangzhou, after defeating Nikolaos Kaisidis from Greece, they lost to Oleksij Wakulenko from Ukraine and came in 13th. He was even worse off in Baku, of all places , where he lost his first fight against his feared opponent Jung Ji-hyun from South Korea and ended up in 32nd place.
In 2008 Vitali Rəhimov managed to get a third place at the qualifying tournament in Rome at the Olympic Games in Beijing . There he won with the help of the doping agent Turinabol in featherweight about Sheng Jiang, China , Eusebiu Diaconu, the multiple world champion and Olympic champion Armen Nazaryan , Bulgaria and Nurbakyt Tengisbajew from Kazakhstan and was in the fight for the gold medal to the Russians Islambek Albijew opposite. But he had no chance of winning against Albijew and lost with 0: 2 rounds and 0: 6 points.
In 2009 he won his first medal at a world championship in the featherweight championship in Herning / Denmark . He defeated Paolo Fucile from Italy , Ruslan Tjumenbajew from Kyrgyzstan and Rewas Laschchi from Georgia. In the semi-finals he lost to Dilschod Aripow from Uzbekistan, but won a bronze medal by defeating Söner Surcu from Turkey. He then won the same medal at the 2010 World Championships in Moscow , albeit one weight class higher, in the lightweight . It took him four wins. He suffered a defeat from Ambako Watschadze from Russia. In the battle for the bronze medal, he defeated Tamás Lőrincz from Hungary .
In 2011 Vitali Rəhimov won a bronze medal in the lightweight at the European Championships in Dortmund . He had to admit defeat there in the quarterfinals against Tamas Lörincz, but since he reached the final, he could still fight for this medal with victories over Abdusamalt Günal , Turkey and Ionuț Panait from Romania. However, he had no luck at the world championship this year in Istanbul , because he lost after winning two fights against Kim Hyeon-woo from South Korea, was eliminated and only reached 15th place. At the European Championships in Belgrade in 2012 he lost his first fight against Yaroslav Kardasch from Belarus and only came in 20th place. He also failed to qualify for the Olympic Games in London in 2012.
In 2013 he achieved good results in several international tournaments, but was not used in any international championship.
doping
In 2016, Rəhimov's doping sample from the 2008 Olympic Games tested positive for Turinabol in follow-up tests and he was subsequently disqualified. The bronze medal was revoked .
