Franz Schmidig

Franz Schmidig senior , called Lunni-Franz , (born September 14, 1917 ; † November 24, 2008 ), was an accordion and Schwyzerörgelist from Muotathal in the Swiss canton of Schwyz . His music was the landlord . He was a farmer by profession . His brother Bernhardin, "Lunni-Bäredi", played Schwyzerörgeli and had a fatal car accident.

Schmidig formed hand organ and Schwyzerörgeliduets with Willi Valotti , Ernst "Jonny" Gisler and local Muotathalers, including family members like his son Franz Schmidig junior, who is still an active folk musician today. His wife Cäcilia Schmidig was a yodeler and directed the Pragelchörli , named after the Pragelpass .

Most recently, Franz Schmidig senior, who was replaced in his regular formation with Jonny Gisler by his son of the same name, mainly performed with Willi Valotti. Valotti was also the manager of the band. They performed mainly with Schmidig's own compositions in the typical Muotathal style. They were accompanied by a bass violinist.
