Franz brother-in-law

Franz Schwager (born January 18, 1945 ; † December 24, 2018 in Radlach) was an Austrian politician ( TS previously FPÖ ). From 1989 to 2009 he was a member of the Carinthian state parliament .

education and profession

After attending primary and secondary school, Schwager completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic. Schwager was a factory mechanic at AVE-Möbel and then until 1979 employee of the ILBAU company. Between 1979 and 1989 he worked as a full-time district manager of the FPÖ in the Spittal an der Drau district .

politics

Schwager joined the FPÖ-Kärnten in 1966 and was active as district youth chairman of the RFJ Spittal an der Drau between 1966 and 1973 . From 1973 to 1985 he worked as a local councilor in Steinfeld and was then deputy mayor until 1993. From 1993 Schwager took over the office of mayor of the market town, but was defeated in the mayor runoff election in 2003 by his SPÖ rival Ewald Tschabitscher. After that, brother-in-law was again a councilor of the FPÖ. Within the party, brother-in-law was the managing district party chairman of the FPÖ-Spittal from 1989 to 2004.

Schwager was a member of the Carinthian state parliament from April 21, 1989 to March 23, 2009 and the only member of the FPÖ who remained with the FPÖ after the BZÖ split off . For this he was elected regional party chairman of the FPÖ-Carinthia in June 2005 and re-elected in March 2007 with 87 percent. After the failure of the FPÖ in the state elections in Carinthia in 2009 , Schwager left the state parliament.

Private

Brother-in-law was divorced and had one child.
