Franz Semling

Franz Semling (born February 16, 1962 ) is a Baden-Württemberg police officer and police chief of Freiburg .

Professional background

Franz Semling joined the police service of the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1979 in the middle service. In 1995 he was promoted to the higher service , in 2001 to the higher service as a consultant at what was then the Freiburg Police Department. In 2004 he took on the role of head of the command and control team at the Offenburg Police Department. In 2005 he became a consultant for Department 32 - Combating Crime in the Ministry of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg , and in 2008 he was a consultant in the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg . From 2013 he was Head of Unit 64 - Management and Deployment at the Freiburg Regional Council. In 2014 he became head of the command and task force at the Offenburg police headquarters , and in 2016 he became the deputy head of the office and head of the command and task force at the Karlsruhe police headquarters .

On April 1, 2019, he succeeded Bernhard Rotzinger as head of the Freiburg Police Headquarters .
