Franz Strehl

Franz Strehl (* 1948 in Wels ) is an Austrian economist and professor of business administration (strategic management) at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz . He headed the Institute for Strategic Management from 2006–2017.

Life

Franz Strehl studied business administration at the JKU from 1968 to 1973. After spending a year at the Université Libre de Bruxelles , Belgium , he went to the University of Dallas , USA , where he graduated with a Master of Business Administration for International Management. In 1981 he received his doctorate from the JKU. From 1976 to 1987 he was a university assistant at the Institute for Information Systems and Organizational Research. In 1987 he completed his habilitation. In 1988 he was appointed full professor at the University of Innsbruck and founded the Institute for Administrative Management, of which he was director until 1995. In 1995 he was elected rector of the JKU and held this position until 2000. Since 2000 he is o.Univ.Prof. at the JKU and head of the Institute for Strategic Management. From 1997 to 2004 he was President of the Research Advisory Council of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences, Brussels - from 2004 to 2010 he was President of the IIAS. For two years, from 2000 to 2002, he was a member of the “Universities Act 2002” working group (Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture). From 2004 to 2010 he was the overall scientific director of LIMAK - Austrian Business School, and since 2010 he has been the academic director of programs.
