Michael Tumpel

Michael Tumpel (born May 15, 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian economist and professor of business administration (taxation) at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz . He is the head of the institute for business taxation .

Life

Michael Tumpel studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business , from which he received his doctorate in 1993. During his doctoral studies, he worked as a university assistant at the Institute for Financial Law at WU Vienna. From 1993 to 1997 he was a university assistant at the Institute for Law and Economics at the University of Vienna. In 1994 he became a member of the tax law expert panel of the Chamber of Public Accountants and is head of the sales tax working group . In 1997 he completed his habilitation in finance law and business taxation at the University of Vienna. Then he was an associate professor at the Institute for Law and Economics. Since 2000 he has been a university professor for business administration with a focus on business taxation at the JKU. He heads the Institute for Business Taxation and is deputy head of the Research Institute for Tax Law and Tax Management. In 2007 he completed a research stay in New York , USA , and was a Global Tax Research Fellow at the New York University School of Law.

Michael Tumpel was married to Iris Fischlmayr (1974–2017).

Since 1983 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KÖHV Amelungia Vienna in the ÖCV .
