Franz Thallinger

Franz Thallinger (born April 4, 1945 ) is an Austrian table tennis and tennis player. He was twice Austrian champion in table tennis.

Table tennis

Franz Thallinger began his career at Union Gmunden , with whom he played in the state league in the mid-1960s. In 1970 and 1973 he was Austrian individual champion . In 1974 he joined the TTC Kuchl. With the men's team he became Austrian national champion in 1975. Around 1983 he was active for SK VÖEST Linz .

Franz Thallinger took part in world championships three times , namely in 1969 , 1973 and 1975 , but never came close to medal ranks. There were heated discussions in Austria when he was not nominated for the 1971 World Cup , although he was the reigning national champion. At the European Championships in 1972 he was eighth with Austria's team.

tennis

At the age of 40, Franz Thallinger dedicated himself to tennis. With the senior national team 65+ he reached fourth place at the 2011 World Cup in Antalya (Turkey).
