Franz Vinck
Franz Vinck (born September 14, 1827 in Antwerp , † October 17, 1903 in Berchem ) was a Belgian genre painter and art teacher.
Vinck studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen with Josephus Laurentius Dyckmans . Around 1866 he studied privately with Hendrik Leys .
In 1846 he first took part in an exhibition, the three-year salon in Antwerp. He later exhibited his works in Brussels , Dunkirk , Londos , Vienna and Philadelphia . In 1850 and 1852 he took part in the Prix de Rome painting competition without success . He went on study trips to France . Italy and the countries of the Middle East.
He was appointed professor at the Antwerp and Dendermonde Academies .
Vinck painted biblical scenes, historical scenes that often took place in the Middle Ages or the Renaissance, and portraits.
