Franz Waider

Franz Waider (born January 9, 1931 in Velbert ; † December 7, 1983 ) was a German politician ( SPD ). He was both a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and mayor of the city of Velbert.

Life

After attending primary school, Waider graduated from vocational school and did an apprenticeship as a toolmaker until 1962 . From 1962 he was managing director and board member of the Niederberg construction and settlement cooperative in Velbert. He had already been a member of IG Metall from 1946 to 1962. After working for the construction and settlement cooperative, he joined the trade union for trade, banks and insurance in 1962 .

Waider joined the SPD in 1953 and was a member of the board of the Velbert local association from 1963. From 1968 he was a member of the sub-district executive. In 1956 he became a member of the city council of Velbert and from 1961 to 1963 and again from 1964 to 1967 he was deputy mayor of the city of Velbert. He was then mayor of the city of Velbert from 1967 to 1969. He was parliamentary group leader of the SPD in the council of the city of Velbert until 1964 and again from 1969. He left the council after he was elected to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia by a direct mandate in the 7th electoral term in the constituency 061 Düsseldorf-Mettmann II belonged to this from July 26, 1970 to May 27, 1975.
