Theodor von Sosnosky
Theodor von Sosnosky (born January 4, 1866 in Budapest , † February 3 or December 13, 1943 in Vienna ) (pseudonym: Pierre de Straß) was an Austrian writer and historian .
Live and act
Sosnosky came from the Polish nobility. In the last decade of the 19th century he settled in Vienna, where he initially published mainly fiction and Germanistic works. At the turn of the century he began to deal with historical issues. Politically he was close to the heir to the throne, Franz Ferdinand . In addition to his portrayal of Austrian politics in the Balkans since 1866, Sosnosky's biography of the Archduke, published in 1929 and one of the first descriptions of the life of the heir to the throne, is probably his best-known work. The latter was nonetheless criticized as “a script that was as little thorough as it was apologetic”.
Sosnosky, who was an ardent supporter of the Greater Austrian idea and an opponent of Georg Ritter von Schönerer and his efforts to join the German Reich, was anti-Semitic by criticizing the “huge Jewish influence in Hungary” in the pre-war period.
After the end of the Second World War, his writing became The Red Trinity. Liberty, equality, fraternity. Jacobins and Bolsheviks (1931) placed on the list of literature to be retired in the Soviet zone of occupation .
