Franz Willinger

Franz Willinger (born October 7, 1926 in Vienna , † February 24, 1988 in Graz ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and union secretary. From 1971 to 1983 he was a member of the National Council .

After compulsory schooling, Willinger attended the higher federal college for mechanical engineering in Mödling and completed his school education with the Matura. He worked from 1947 to 1955 as a technical employee and in 1955 became secretary of the private employees' union (GPA) in Vienna. In 1960 he rose to become the state secretary of the trade union for private employees in Styria. Willinger was Vice President of the Chamber for Workers and Employees in Styria from 1964 to 1971 and represented the SPÖ in the National Council from November 4, 1971 to May 18, 1983. He died five years later in Graz.
