Franz Xaver Hilz

Franz Xaver Hilz (born November 5, 1759 in Schönbrunn ; † November 1, 1830 there ) was a Bavarian entrepreneur and politician.

Life

Hilz was born as the son of the glassworks master Josef Anton Hilz (1729–1781) on the Schönbrunn glassworks estate. He came from an important old Bavarian glassworks dynasty. After the death of his father in 1781, he ran the Schönbrunn glassworks. In 1835 Franz Xaver Hilz jun. and his five siblings sold the glassworks to the Bavarian state.

In addition to his commercial activity, Hilz was also politically active. In 1819 he was elected to the first modern Bavarian parliament , the Chamber of Deputies . On February 1, 1822, he was released from the chamber at his own request for frailty.
