Franz Xaver Martz

Franz Xaver Martz (born August 31, 1879 in Brumath , † after 1918) was a priest, editor and member of the second chamber of the regional parliament of the Reichsland Alsace-Lorraine for the center .

Franz Xaver Martz, who was a Catholic denomination, attended the episcopal grammar school in Strasbourg from 1891 to 1897 and studied Catholic theology at the seminary in Strasbourg from 1897 to 1902. He then did pastoral care for five years and was an editor at the Alsatian Volksbote from 1907 to 1909 , and from 1909 at the "Alsatian". In addition, he was a temporary vicar in Düttlenheim (canton Geispolsheim) and active in social associations.

In the first (and only) election to the state parliament, he stood as a candidate for the center in the constituency of Geispolsheim-Oberehnheim. In the first ballot, 6952 votes were cast in the constituency out of the 8,205 eligible voters. Martz accounted for 3636, the Social Democrat Oertel 1746 and the liberal candidate Dr. Mary 1544 votes. Franz Xaver Martz was a member of the state parliament until 1918.

He was President of the Catholic Business Association "Argentina" in Strasbourg.
