Franz Xaver Osterrieder

Franz Xaver Osterrieder (born April 2, 1869 in Abensberg ; † October 29, 1949 in Munich ; pseud. Bavaricus ) was a Lower Bavarian art and local writer.

Life

Franz Xaver Osterrieder was born in Abensberg, Lower Bavaria, in 1869 as the son of a baker and brother of the later sculptor Sebastian Osterrieder . From 1865 to 1908 he worked in the insurance service, and since 1912 as a freelance writer. In addition to his insurance activities, he attended lectures at the University of Munich, but was otherwise self-taught. He was a co-founder of the Abensberger Heimatverein (see also Herzogskasten (Abensberg) ) and since 1929 an honorary citizen of the city. He lived in Munich with his partner, the writer Franziska Hager . Osterrieder published in various newspapers, especially on the history of Abensberg and the Hallertau , Bavarian folk music, but also in general on (Bavarian) cultural and contemporary history.
