Franciscan Hospice Bad Gleichenberg
The Franciscan Hospice Bad Gleichenberg was 1888-2010 a monastery of the Franciscans in Bad Gleichenberg in Styria . It is a listed building .
history
The parish church and the Franciscan monastery were donated by Matthias Constantin Capello von Wickenburg . In 1841 the construction of the church and a monastery began. In 1845 the church was completed. In 1888 the church and monastery were handed over to the Franciscans. In 1940 Gleichenberg became an independent parish . In 2010 the monastery community was dissolved.
Architecture and equipment
The simple two-story building. In the refectory there is a painting Stigmatization of St. Franz von Joseph Tunner (1852). In the house chapel there is a Renaissance altar from 1566, the so-called Teuffenbach Altar from Sauerbrunn Castle in Thalheim in Pöls in Upper Styria . The altar was restored in 1960.
