The Franziskusbrunnen (formerly: Jonasbrunnen ) is a fountain in the northern center of Munich . It is located in the Maxvorstadt district in the northwest area of Josephsplatz .

history

The original Jonas Fountain was created in 1911 by Hubert Netzer in the neo- baroque style from shell limestone . After being destroyed in the Second World War , the fountain was redesigned in 1961. Only the basin has been preserved from the original structure. The sculptor Josef Erber created a Francis figure for the center .
