It is part of the clergy family of Charles de Foucaulds and was founded in France in 1991 . The association recognized by the Holy See has around 360 members in 25 countries around the world.

history

An international women's group from 20 nations , which was already involved in the secular institute Fraternity Jesus Caritas (FJC), decided to found an independent women's community in Bayonne ( France ). In 1991, the FCF was recognized as an association of believers under episcopal law by the Bishop of Bayonne Pierre Molères (* 1932). In 1992 it was incorporated into the “Community of Charles de Foucaulds”, and the FCF was accepted into the clerical family of Charles Foucaulds. On December 1, 1998, the Pontifical Council for Laity recognized the women's community as an international Catholic community under papal law. In 2004 the newly drawn up statutes were recognized as binding.

Self-image

The women live according to their lay vocation according to the charisma of Charles de Foucauld, they want to live contemplatively in the middle of the world and deal with one another in the spirit of brotherhood. In the middle of the world means that they see the events of time and life in faith and know how to interpret them. This also means that they want to live in solidarity with the poor and share what they have with them. The basis of this spiritual way of life is the Holy Scriptures and the conscious experience of the Eucharist .

The members who have made a promise live celibate, mostly alone and remain connected to their profession and their living environment. Several members, mostly between 5 and 6, meet regularly for times of worship , conversation , sharing experiences and socializing. An important element in the group meetings is the contemplation of life in the method " Révision de vie " and participation in retreats .

The “International Equipe” is elected by the General Assembly; the International General Assembly is the decision-making and management body. The members of the FCF are represented in 23 countries around the world, mainly in Europe and South America. There are around 30 members in Germany.
