Filial and pilgrimage church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary

An early Romanesque church from the 8th century stood on the site of today's building with a three-bay nave and two-bay choir (with 3/8 end). The current building was erected in the third quarter of the 15th century and has a high tower with an octagonal pointed helmet. The interior of the church is the most important Rococo building in the wide area. In 1740, the interior of the church was redesigned, the flat ceiling in the nave was replaced by a needle cap barrel and the ribs in the choir were removed. The rich Rococo stucco and frescoes were added in 1774; they were executed by unknown artists. The ceiling painting in the nave shows Mary with the baby Jesus, cheered by angels, floating above the church and Schwindegger kneeling in front of itLord of the castle Josef Fugger with his wife. The magnificent high altar from 1770 is the work of Lorenz Schmid (Schwindegg) and Philipp Wagner (Kraiburg). In the center of it sits the miraculous image on a throne. The two side altars are also worth seeing.
