Freckleben (noble family)

The von Freckleben family is an extinct knightly ministerial family who named themselves after the place Freckleben in Anhalt.

The family is not identical to (Castle) Count Udo von Freckleben (* 1108/09, † March 15, 1130), the margrave of the Nordmark from the Stade house , who also named himself after Freckleben.

history

The former were Milo von Freckleben in 1120 and Otto von Freckleben in 1125, followed by Rudolf in 1150. The family had estates in the Stiftslanden Quedlinburg , Magdeburg and Halberstadt . It had headquarters in Asseburg , Hohenerxleben , Löderburg , Plötzkau and Wallhausen, among others . In 1436 the Lords of Freckleben died out on Plötzkau. Among other things, they were pawnbrokers at Schneidlingen Castle in the Halberstadt diocese .

The Naumburg cathedral dean and master Theodericus dictus de Vrekeleve led a three-row sloping bar in the seal in 1315. Ulrich von Freckleben's seal from 1344 is split four times. The seal of the knight Rudolf von Freckleben is three times silver and black in 1368 and split four times in 1385, above it an open flight. The von Freckleben family in Anhaltischen had two golden stakes on the black sign. On the helmet an open flight, square in black and gold.
