Fred Thieme

Fred Thieme (born December 1, 1962 ) is a former German basketball player .

Life

In 1988 and 1989, Thieme won the basketball championship of the German Democratic Republic with the HSG TU Magdeburg . He played international matches for the GDR selection. After the end of the GDR, the 1.89 meter tall builder and winger played for the USC Magdeburg, the SSV unit Weißenfels and the Ohre BC Wolmirstedt in the 2nd basketball league . In Wolmirstedt and later in Magdeburg he also worked as an assistant coach and sports director during the second division.

In the 45+ age group, Thieme, who professionally headed an insurance agency, took part with the Magdeburg team in German championships and played for the German selection at international tournaments such as the 2012 European Championship.
