Fred Vatter
Fred Vatter (* 1915 in Schönlinde , Bohemia ; † November 23, 2004 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) was a German entrepreneur.
Life
The textile company founded by his ancestors in Schönlinde / Bohemia in 1882, which had trade relationships as far as the Middle East and whose customers included the Austrian Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary , was expropriated after the end of the Second World War .
Entrepreneur
Fred Vatter founded the fine hosiery manufacturer Josef Heinrich Vatter Successor near Schongau south of Munich . With two machines for the production of jerseys and a few former employees of the company, he began to manufacture fine stockings.
Vatter built the company into the market leader. Together with a childhood friend from Schönlinde, Dr. Otto Palme , he founded the Bellinda company in 1950. The name Bellinda originated from the Latinization of his place of birth Schönlinde .
The Bellinda hosiery manufacturers were / are a major company in the Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau with six production plants and several thousand employees.
For more than two decades, Fred Vatter was also a member of the Presidium of the General Association of the German Mesh Industry at the association level.
In 1982, Fred Vatter expanded his company by purchasing the company BI , and in 1988 Schulte & Dieckhoff (with the brands NUR DIE and OPAL ). In 1989 the company ELBEO ( Oberlungwitz ) was added. Vatter was chairman of the board of directors of Fred Vatter Holding .
In 1992 Vatter Holding returned to Czechoslovakia and established Tricotbest sro , which was renamed Sara Lee Apparel ČR, sro in 2002 and Bellinda Česká republika, sro in 2006 .
Honors
The entrepreneur Fred Vatter was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class by Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker in 1987 because of his commitment to the German economy and his voluntary work on the Presidium of the General Association of the German Mesh Industry .
