Federico Anthony "Fred" Warner (* 19th November 1996 in San Marcos , California ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the linebackers . He plays for the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL).

High school

Warner went to Mission Hills High School in San Marcos. While in high school, he won the Avocado East League Defensive Player of the Year and All-San Diego Section Defensive Player of the Year awards, among others. He was also named to the USA Today All-California First Team and the Cal-Hi Sports All-State First Team.

On February 5, 2014, he enlisted at Brigham Young University to play for the local college football program.

college

In his first season, Warner got 24 tackles and one interception, which he retouned against Boise State for a touchdown. Due to a back injury, he missed the last three games of the season. In his sophomore year he became a regular player and he got 66 tackles, 12 tackles with loss of space, 4 quarterback sacks, 2 interceptions and 4 captured fumbles. In his third year he recorded 86 tackles, plus 2 forced fumbles, 6 prevented passes and 3 interceptions, one of which he carried back for a touchdown - again against Boise State. Before his fourth season he was named team captain and this last season he managed another 87 tackles, 5 prevented passes, an interception and a forced fumble.

NFL

Warner was selected 70th in the 2018 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers. On June 13, 2018, he signed the four-year contract for a total of $ 3.98 million.

In the pre-season he competed with Brock Coyle for the position of middle linebacker. He made his NFL debut in the opening game against the Minnesota Vikings , in which he got 12 tackles, a prevented pass and a forced fumble. Warner played all 16 games and ended the season with 124 tackles, but the 49ers only won 4 games and missed the playoffs.

In his second season he again had most of his team's tackles (118), plus 3 quarterback sacks , 3 forced fumbles, 9 prevented passes and an interception. For his achievements in November 2019, he received the NFC Defensive Player Of The Month award . The 49ers won 13 of their 16 games and qualified for the playoffs, where they made it to the Super Bowl. In this game, which the 49ers lost 20:31 to the Kansas City Chiefs , Warner managed an interception.

Personal

Warner is the son of Fred and Laura Warner. He has two siblings. His younger brother Troy is also a football player, in the position of safety and is entering his fifth season for BYU.
