Brock Coyle (* 12. October 1990 in Norwalk , Connecticut ) is a former American American football poker players. He played five seasons as linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

Coyle played college football at the University of Montana in the Big Sky Conference from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). In his senior year he was named co-captain of the defense and was elected to the 2nd team All-Big-Sky after the season . During his time for the Montana Grizzlies, he was able to achieve the twelfth most tackles in team history with 293 tackles, 24.5 of them for loss of space.

After Coyle was not selected in the 2014 NFL Draft , the Seattle Seahawks signed him . Here he was mainly active as a backup for middle linebacker Bobby Wagner and in the special teams . He was used in 35 regular season games and seven playoff games, in which he scored 24 tackles and one sack. He was also used as a starter in five games, three of them in the 2016 season , where he replaced the injured Mike Morgan as a strongside linebacker .

After the Seahawks failed to make Coyle a qualifying offer to make him a Restricted Free Agent , he was signed up as an Unrestricted Free Agent by the San Francisco 49ers in March 2017 . Initially only planned as a substitute and special teams player, Coyle was named a starter in the middle of the season after the 49ers decided to fire NaVorro Bowman . In March 2018, the 49ers gave Coyle a three-year contract for $ 8.5 million, of which 4.1 million was guaranteed. On matchday one of the 2018 season , he suffered a compression fracture on his spine, which resulted in him being placed on the Injured Reserve List . On March 14, 2019, Coyle was released. He was able to score 68 tackles, two special team tackles and force a fumble in seventeen games, including eleven starts, for the 49ers. One day after his release, he announced his retirement from professional sport due to his back injury.
