Freddy Frewer

Freddy Frewer, actually Fred Frewer (* 1938 in Windhoek , South West Africa , today Namibia ), is a German-Namibian radio presenter , music expert and actor .

Life

Frewer has been moderating the NBC's German radio program since 1982 . His classical programs (such as the “Klingenden Kostbarkeiten”), which Frewer has been presenting on the station for decades, are well known. As a young man, the Windhoek native went to Germany to study music and acting. He then played in Heidelberg theater and worked as a stage manager at the Chur theater . In the 1970s he also appeared in television productions in Germany and South Africa.

In 1966 Frewer went back to Windhoek, where he took over his father's music business and began working as an actor and director at the same time . From the early 1980s, Frewer built up the German radio program at what was then the South West African Broadcasting Corporation (German also South West African Broadcasting), and acted as a spokesperson for news, radio plays and cultural productions.

In the meantime, several thousand editions of Frewer's classical shows have passed through the station . Frewer has now worked on up to 10,000 productions. As one of the best-known Namibian classical music experts, he has gained notoriety and a listening community beyond the German-speaking community of Namibia.
