Frederik Holst (soccer player)

Frederik Holst (born September 24, 1994 ) is a Danish football player . He is under contract with Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands and is a former Danish junior international.

Career

Holst, the son of a Danish mother and a Spanish father, grew up in the Copenhagen district of Vanløse and moved from the local club BK Union to the youth academy of the suburb Brøndby IF . On May 13, 2012 he made his debut in professional football at 1: 5 on matchday 31 of the 2011/12 Superliga in the away game against Aarhus GF . This season Brøndby IF played against relegation and finished ninth in the table at the end of the season. In the following season he reached the semifinals in the Danish Cup competition as a regular with Brøndby IF, but finished ninth with the club again in the league. In the following seasons Holst qualified with Brøndby IF for the international competition, but could never reach the group stage of a European cup competition.

In August 2017, Holst moved to Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands and signed a contract until 2020. In his first season with the Rotterdamers, he was relegated from the Eredivisie .

National team

Holst completed two missions (one goal) for the Danish U16 national team and took part in the U17 European Championship 2011 in Serbia with the U17 . He came to three missions in this final and qualified with his team for the semi-finals, in which they were eliminated against Germany . By participating in the semi-finals, the Danish U17 qualified for the 2011 U17 World Cup in Mexico , where the team was eliminated after the group stage. Holst was used in all three games. He came to a total of 31 missions for the Danish U17 national team, in which he scored two goals.

In the period that followed, Holst played two games for the U18 team , 14 for the U19 national team and two for the U20. On May 22, 2014, he played for the first time for the Danish U21 national team in the 2-0 defeat in the test match in Esbjerg against Switzerland . At the U21 European Championship in 2015 in the Czech Republic , he was not part of the Danish squad, but coach Niels Frederiksen Holst appointed him to the squad for the U21 European Championship 2017 in Poland . In this tournament he came to two missions and was eliminated with the U21 after the group stage.
