Fredrik Sixten

Fredrik Sixten (born October 21, 1962 in Skövde ) is a Swedish composer.

Sixten did his Bachelor of Arts at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm , where he studied from 1982 to 1993. There he studied composition with Professor Sven-David Sandström . From 1997 to 2001 he was the conductor of the Gothenburg Boys Choir. From 2001 to 2013 he was organist at Härnösand Cathedral . Then he was appointed choir director at the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. He has been working as a freelance composer since August 2014. Fredrik Sixten composed a lot of choral music and three oratorios for choir and orchestra. In Sweden he is considered one of the most frequently performed composers of contemporary church music. In 2016 he composed the opera W - The Truth Beyond , a work about Commissioner Wallander , which premiered on July 15, 2016 in Tübingen.
