description

The focus of training at Freeletics is on strength and endurance without equipment in the form of high intensity training or calisthenics using a virtual coach. Typical exercises are: burpees , squats , crunches , push-ups , jumps , pull-ups , mountain climbers , jumping jacks , sprints in a fixed order and number against time and gamification elements of the community. As a rule, a Freeletics exercise does not take longer than 45 minutes. There is also a nutrition coach with cooking tips and a sportswear shop. You can train alone with an app or in self-organized group trainings in parks around the world. There are local ambassadors who support beginners.

history

Freeletics was founded in March 2013 by Mehmet Yilmaz, Joshua Cornelius and Andrej Matijczak at the Center for Digital Technology and Management . It started as a minimum viable product with a YouTube video, a newsletter and three PDFs. Initially, training was mainly carried out in the Maßmannpark in Munich . In August 2018, Fitlab, Causeway Media Partners, Jazz Venture Partners, Courtside Ventures, Elysian Park Ventures and Ward.Ventures took over Freeletics from the founders for a high double-digit million amount. An official training ground was opened at Monbijoupark in Berlin in October 2017. A Series A funding of $ 45 million was closed in December 2018.
